Only 3 Weeks Left!

:D

In case anyone was wondering, LDRs suck. A lot.

I might be the official Korean-English interpreter for BlizzCon2008. It's an annual convention in Anaheim for the gaming company Blizzard Entertainment (Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, World of Warcraft). I'd be translating the interviews between the Korean progamers and the English-speaking hosts in front of hundreds or thousands of people. Hopefully it'll happen!

My New Apartment!

I was supposed to move in yesterday, but the loser who was the previous occupant of this apartment decided to stay (wtf?) for another day, so I had to spend last night on a fellow RA's couch.

Anyway, she finally got her stuff out of here and cleaning staff came in, did their stuff, etc. So around 6PM I was able to start moving in!

For those who don't know what's going on--I'm on RA for the summer, so I get my own 1 bedroom apartment! Read my previous xanga entry for more details if you're curious at all.

The batteries on my camera died so unfortunately no photos of the walk-in closet or the bathroom. And yes, I have two people's worth of furniture in the bedroom.

Yay for free housing! (and free food!)

No Return

So the school year is officially over, and it seems nearly everyone is headed either back home or some exotic location for summer break.

I, however, am staying here at school! Actually I don't really mind it at all. It'll be quite the luxurious lifestyle living in a 1-bedroom apartment at Troy East all to myself. I'm looking forward to that. I already told a few people about this, but anyone is allowed to come visit me and even stay the night if you need a place to sleep. The room was intended for 2 people so it has the furniture for two, meaning two internet jacks, two desks, two chairs, two beds, etc. My RC said that she doesn't care how long people stay as long as they aren't actually planning on living there for the summer. I have 2 sets of sheets and stuff, so that isn't a problem, for those who are curious.

Why am I staying at school? Well there are several reasons. First, as you all probably know by now, my family is moving to Atlanta. So there isn't really a point in my going back to WA only to have to buy another plane ticket to Atlanta. And if I were to go to Atlanta over the break, I wouldn't have a room or bed to sleep in, and overall it would probably be just a big headache, haha. So that's how I decided it would probably be best for me to just stay here at USC. But housing costs were a serious issue--I don't exactly have the money right now to afford summer housing.

I applied to be a Language Academy RA a couple months ago, and I got to the interview stage. However, they notified me a few days later that I hadn't quite made the cut, and that I was an alternate. But miraculously about a week ago I received a phone call saying that one of the male RAs had a change of plans and they needed me! :)  So that means I have free housing and free food for the summer.

Of course, I'm not just doing this for the housing. As cheesy as it sounds, I think that it will be a rewarding experience to be an RA for the Language Academy. To clarify, I'm not an RA for typical USC summer school students. I'm an RA for a program separate from the school itself. The Language Academy consists of two 6-week programs in which the students have intensive English classes and workshops from 9-5 Monday through Friday. It's a tiny staff so there will be a lot of work, but I think it'll be a good experience and good training so that I'm prepared for next year as an RA at Marks Tower.

Come visit me though, I'm not going to have much to do over the summer other than maybe a part-time job to make some spending money.

Residents move in on Monday! I'm excited! :)
